17 Reversible Decorations That Save Time And Sanity

SHARE
Okay, whose bright idea was it to schedule so many festive holidays in the same three-month period? I mean, you've barely switched your summer decor out for autumn when it's suddenly time to break out the Halloween goodies. Then BAM! Thanksgiving is here and Christmas decorations are already clogging the store aisles. Sheesh!

Have you considered ensuring that your holiday decor can do double-duty? Here are a whole bunch of DIY projects and inspiration to create reversible, multi-event decorations.

1. Make a reversible porch sign.

Switching from Thanksgiving to Christmas is as easy as turning it around.

2. Don't limit yourself to holidays.

This crafty sign is a general welcome all year round, but becomes a festive greeting for the Fourth of July.

3. Flip your bunting.

Burlap is great in the cold months, and since it's durable, it'll stand up to being reused again and again.

4. Block out the time.

Wooden blocks can be stacked and reversed so many different ways.

Block-style reversible signs are really popular. On the next page, I've gathered a few more examples, and a tutorial for making them yourself!

5. Go bright with your blocks.

6. Or more subdued.

7. They're easy to make!

Just blocks of wood, colored paper or fabric, and a bit of decoupage! You know, wooden blocks actually have 6 sides, so you could really get creative and cover even more holidays!

8. Same holiday, different themes.

I could see this cute sign being used to keep kids in line during the run up to Christmas. Just the threat of switching the sign to "Naughty" for Santa to see would stop most tantrums or antics.

Unsurprisingly, signs are a popular items to make reversible. I have a couple more on the next page, and then it's time for table decorations!

9. Give them cute faces!

While the leaves are coming down, let the scarecrow greet your guests. Then when the winter comes, he turns into a friendly snowman.

10. Try interchangeable letters.

This isn't technically a reversible item, but I just thought it was so clever! For each season, you can just replace the one letter with a thematic item!

11. Go big.

A large sign can give you space to add your favorite seasonal quotes and greetings!

12. Doll up your table with a reversible table runner.

On the next page, I have another table runner option that's totally rustic and awesome.

13. Keep on truckin'.

This reversible truck is just too cute.

14. Turn a tree branch into a reversible runner!

How gorgeous is this? You just need to saw a branch into slices and paint seasonal designs on each side.

15. Get out your Sharpies!

This super simple project just takes a burlap pillow case, a Sharpie, and some imagination.

16. Play with shapes.

If you can find seasonal items that are similar in size and shape, you don't need to limit your sign to a rectangle.

17. Just reverse the leaves to change the theme!

This easy wreath can go from autumn browns, oranges, and yellows to Christmas reds, greens, and golds by just flipping over the leaves.
