Man Catches A Family Of Bears Stalking Through His House

When we come home after a long day, we like to know we're coming home to a safe and secure house. Yet, on some nights, when the house feels like it's settling a little too much or we watch a scary movie, we may start to doubt ourselves. So we check the locks for the fourth time before we finally feel comfortable enough to get some sleep.

However, we all know the world doesn't so work so neatly. Of course, the one time we forget to shut the back door, suddenly we have a new visitor. When I was a kid, it was just a burned out partier who needed to use the phone because his friends left him in a lurch.

Still, you never know what could decide to stop by. Rodney Ginn of Mammoth Lakes, California, simply thought he heard his roommate preparing a snack. However, he soon discovered some houseguests he would never have expected. To share in the surprise, check out the full video.

While we're endlessly fascinated by the spiders, snakes, and other unnerving fauna that can invade the Australian home, they don't quite have the market cornered on dangerous animals. Indeed, we can have some much bigger surprises than we bargained for when one of our beasts decides to find a new habitat.

After all, while they pretend they have drop bears, we have real bears to worry about. And as you've likely heard from Ginn's panicked words, that's exactly what decided to crash at his house.

It's hard to tell from the video, but the visitors turned out to be a mama bear and her cubs — a combination you don't want to mess with. You'll see exactly how Ginn's harrowing encounter went, but things can turn out very badly for you very fast if a bear thinks you're threatening her cubs.

Fortunately, his bears only spent a half hour in his house before exiting through the sliding door, but how did they get in there in the first place?

It seems Ginn has his roommate to blame for this whole matter. After all, since when he came home, his roommate was fast asleep and both the doors were wide open. For their part, bears can actually intrude on your property for a lot of reasons.

If you have garbage stored out in the open, bears can be attracted by any food you might have in there. Of course, Ginn's house likely seemed like a smorgasbord with the doors open so wide. Luckily for Ginn, his house seemed to disappoint the bears because if one thinks they've found a reliable food source, they can travel hundreds of miles to return to it even if they've been relocated.

Given that we're dealing with a mom and her cubs, it's more likely that they poked through Ginn's house to avoid other bears. Adult bears have been known to kill young bears, especially young male bears, so the mother will sometimes try to find a new habitat in a human community.

Whatever the reason these bears showed up, they've definitely left Ginn with a story to tell. Hopefully his roommate will be more careful next time.
