Pinterest: What would we do without it? I mean, it shows us easy ways to create extraordinarily cool stuff! But then, when you try it out for yourself, you dream project becomes a nightmare...doesn't it?
This holiday season, rather than trying and failing to make the perfect Pinterest project, save yourself some time and check out what's realistically likely to happen.
1. Rudolph, deconstructed.
To be fair, it might be a realistic depiction of what would happen if Rudolph suddenly forgot how to fly and fell 20,000 feet out of the sky...
2. It could look worse...
The finished product looks okay, in an abstract sort of way. It's only when you see what they were originally going for that it becomes hilarious.
3. C'mon Walgreens, get your act together.
If you're going to show it on your package, it had better be possible. Now the ice cream is all melted and the holidays are ruined.
4. What in the...?
Yes, the Pinterest original looks delightful and delicious. The execution turns whimsical peppermint white chocolate spoons into some kind of nightmare of a failed mold. There's nothing to salvage here.
5. Ehh, it could have been worse.
Yeah, the original looks much better and has that hairy/frosty look going on. The fail looks like it was made by a six-year-old. But it's still functional, at least.
6. We've all been there.
We've all made ugly-looking cookies. Considering the ambitious recipe, these cookies didn't even get close to reaching their full swirly, stacked potential. I'd still eat 'em, though.
7. Rather than judging, let's appreciate these snowmen for their diversity.
If everyone is beautiful in their own way, then surely these snowmen aren't abominations but uniquely beautiful and special souls.
8. Whipped cream is a tough medium to work with.
You tried to work with whipped cream, and now you have to explain to your kids why Santa's face is melting.
9. Pro-tip for meringues: don't even bother.
Take it from someone who's tried and failed to make meringues: they always wind up looking like the ones on the right. Always.
10. These snowmen display a range of emotions.
It wasn't a total failure, but the faces show the true story. The guy in the bottom left is looking good. Bottom right is apprehensive. Middle right has no face whatsoever.
11. These looked doable! Guess I was wrong...
Two things: M&M's are way too big, and putting two of them on each cookie looks messed up. You wanted holly and ivy and got angry monster faces.
12. That's tree-shaped, right?
The original creates the illusion of an invisible Christmas tree under the delicate ornaments. The adaptation on the right looks kind of like a necklace for a clown.
13. Nailed it.
It was supposed to look like shimmery giant marbles and it wound up looking like Santa became involved in a violent crime. At least an effort was made...right?
14. It could be worse.
Yeah, they're super ugly but considering the fact that these things only have one ingredient, there's no way they don't taste good (assuming anyone wants to eat mangled candy).
15. In a sense, it worked.
The recipe was for a holiday cake roll. I see red and green sprinkles, so it's holiday-appropriate. It's rolled up, theoretically. And I think it's still cake.
Win?
