12 Helpful Lifehacks For Adults

SHARE
Whether you just became an adult recently, or you've been adulting it up for a while now, we all need some good life hacks to make our days easier. Well, today we've compiled a few that I think every person should have in their life as they're easy and can save you a lot of time, space, and even money! From quick cooking solutions to turning a sweater into a laptop case, we've got a ton of random, but totally useful life hacks to share with you! If you know a friend who could benefit from a few of these, why not share with them as well?! Everyone deserves to take it easy this summer!

1. Don't have a coffee maker, but want some coffee?

All you'll need is a filter, coffee grounds, boiled water, and a rubber band.

Put a decent sized spoon of coffee grounds into the filter and tie off the end with the rubber band.

Then just dip the filter in the boiled water like you would with tea, but leave it in there for about five minutes or so to really let it brew.

And voila! Cup of coffee with no maker!

2. Get more sound from your phone's speakers.

Just get a nice tall, empty pint glass and put your phone in on an angle.

This will amplify the sound big time! This is great if you need a louder alarm to wake up in the morning, or if you just don't have a set of speakers around.

3. Need some extra space in your fridge? Are your beers always toppling over?

This is a really simple and effective trick to solve both those problems!

All you need is a binder clip attached to a bar on the fridge's rack.

Once you find the right positioning, it will hold the beer in place when stacked like a pyramid! You'll also free up a lot of fridge space.

4. We all know chip bags have like 40% space at the top...

This tip will help avoid messing your hands up trying to grab at your snacks!

Start by rolling the corners of the bottom up into the bag. Then, keep pushing the bottom upwards until the chips rise to the top!

Not only does this give you easy access, but the bag sits upright like its own chip bowl!

5. Need to cool your beer as quick as possible?

Dampen a paper towel and wrap it around the bottle!

Let it sit in the freezer for at least five minutes.

By that time, your beer should be good to go!

6. Keep your bananas from going bad too soon by wrapping the tops of them together with cling wrap.

Get a nice, tight seal on them and remember to rewrap them each time you take one out to eat!

7. Need to cook up some hot dogs but don't have a stove available?

Time to break out that coffee pot you've been hiding!

Make sure the coffee maker is clean and let it fill up with hot water.

Leave the hot dogs in there until they are sufficiently cooked. The nice hot surface of the coffee warmer will make sure they continue cooking!

8. Need to protect your laptop, but don't have a case or bag?

Break out an old hoodie and we can make one ourselves!

Make sure the hoodie is zipped up and the strings are left out. Then fold the bottom of the sweater over the top of the laptop, tuck in the corners, and use the hood to envelop the bottom of the laptop.

Next, take out the strings from under the hood and tie them across to keep the laptop in place.

Now just tie the sleeves at the top with a tight knot and you'll be able to sling it over your shoulder like a real laptop case!

9. If you need to charge your phone in a hurry, just make sure you switch it to "airplane mode!"

That way the phone isn't dealing with any data, updates, or anything else that's always going on, and can charge a heck of a lot quicker!

10. Super quick, homemade ziplock bags.

If you need a bag of food, like rice in this example, to be sealed and resealed easily, get yourself a water bottle and a knife.

Cut off the top of the bottle, twist the bag to make the top part thin, and slide it through the mouth of the bottle.

Now open up and roll down the top of the bag, and the lid should be able to pop/screw right back on!

Now you can easily reseal bagged foods. Works great for keeping cereal nice and fresh too!

11. Use soda tabs to hang multiple shirts from themselves! By hanging them vertically like this, you'll free up a lot of closet space!

12. Get quality pens for the cheap pen price!

Buy yourself a pack of cheap (but usable) pens and spend a bit of money on the expensive ink refills.

Unscrew the cheap pen and take out the ink cartridge. Then, take the cap from the cheap ink cartridge (the black plastic at the end) and put it on the expensive one.

Then just reassemble the cheap pen with the new filler and you'll have amazing quality for a fraction of the cost of a professional pens!

Normally pens like this could cost up to $200, but you'll be making yours for around $15!
