Childbirth can be such an amazing and beautiful thing. Being able to raise a baby as your own and knowing that you're starting a family, or simply expanding one, is such a rewarding feeling. There are likely few things that are as amazing as childbirth, but how complex of a process it is can be truly astounding, too. From the moment of conception, babies undergo so many different changes. They start off as these microscopic things, eventually growing limbs and organs, and becoming what well our child. And let's be honest here, they're pretty darn cute, too!

Sadly, not everybody is ready to become a parent.

And while there are many ways to safely give up a baby, some cultures have differing attitudes as a whole.

This can lead to all sorts of things.

Such as abandoning a child and leaving it to fend for itself.

And while many of us like to believe things like that don't happen.

It most definitely does, and it can be alarming how often.

Meet Luisa Fernanda Urrea.

Luisa is a police officer in Colombia, as well as a new mother.

Reports had come in about strange sounds coming from within the undergrowth.

One resident, Edinora Jiminez, claimed that she had heart crying.

At first, she had believed the crying was from a cat.

But when she got closer, she realized that it was a baby.

When the police arrived, they knew something had to be done.

With Luisa Urrea being a brand new mother, she wasn't about to let this baby starve and die from hypothermia.

Her motherly instincts kicked in and she did what she thought was best.

She began to breastfeed the baby, saying she could tell it needed nourishment.

Thankfully she did, because medical personnel said they doubted the baby would have otherwise survived.

Luisa Fernanda Urrea is a truly amazing police officer AND mother. Without hesitation, she did what she believed was best and saved a life.
