This Coffee Shop Leaves Its Leftover Burritos On The Windowsill For The Homeless Every Night

SHARE
You know, of all the bad things that could possibly happen to a person, being homeless is one of my big fears. I can't imagine having to wander the streets, ask others for money, sleep outdoors, and generally live a destitute, uncertain life. But that's the reality for far too many people. And I know if I were among them, a windowsill burrito would go a long way.

You have to give it up for a restaurant like this, not wanting their tasty burritos to go to waste, putting them out for the homeless every night.

Some folks will suggest that the Health Department will have some concerns, and some will say that the burritos will just get grabbed up by drunk students, but you have to credit the restaurant for trying.

Local governments have done plenty of not-so-helpful things to get homeless people off the streets.

Like, say, putting spikes underneath covered areas so homeless people can't sleep there.

And the homeless don't get the best advocacy, either. Not only do they not have a voice, they're often invisible, too.

You can tell because that's not actually a homeless person. That's Sir Ian McKellen, better known to most of us as Gandalf or Magneto, being mistaken for a homeless person. So nice of that lady to try to help him out though!

So hey, if that restaurant helps feed even one hungry person with their leftover burritos, it's worth a round of applause.
