Rescued Cat Pays It Forward And Helps Nurse Rescued Lamb Back To Health

SHARE
Meet Charlie the lamb and Dora the cat. They are both rescues at Happy Tails Farm Sanctuary in Ontario, Canada and they are the best of friends.

When Charlie was born, his mom didn't make it, and the farmer who owned him put an ad online looking for someone to take him. He made it to Happy Tails, where Carla Reilly Moore and her husband Harry began to nurse him back to health. They didn't do it alone, though, because Dora was there to help!

Dora the cat came to the sanctuary when she was just 4 1/2 weeks old.

Carla and Harry found her in a ditch, brought her home, and now she's helping them continue their work with Charlie. When he arrived, Charlie was very sick and his tail and testicles had been improperly banded. It required round-the-clock care and surgery, but Charlie is now thriving — and Dora was with him the whole time.

While little lamb Charlie recovered from surgery, Dora stayed by his crate, waiting with him until he was ready to come out to play.

Just getting Charlie to the sanctuary was a challenge — but with a little ingenuity, they managed to rescue him.

The farmer didn't want to give the sick lamb to a sanctuary, so a rescuer pretended to want Charlie for other reasons. An organization called Critter Cabs then ensured he made it to his new home. "Farmers often do not like sanctuaries as we do expose the dark side of the industry," Carla explained.

Now he's happy and healthy, and ready to play!

D'aww!
