16 Objects We Didn't Expect To Melt Like This

16 Objects We Didn't Expect To Melt Like This

When a powerful fire rages, it can leave a lot of strange melted objects in its wake. There's nothing unusual about this effect, but it's often true that some of the objects caught in the crossfire are ones we've simply never seen like this.

At first glance, it can sometimes be hard to tell just what you're looking at. Yet when a few context clues and a couple of recognizable odds and ends fill in the blanks for us, the reaction is going to be the same.

"Whoa, that's what that looks like when it melts?"

If you've ever wondered how a good melt would change the things sitting around you but you didn't want to ruin them, then you've definitely come to the right place. Let's have a look at these 16 not-so-solid objects and see just what kind of art a really hot day can make.

COMMENT and let us know what you'd like to see melt.

1. Hmm, it's probably not a good idea to drink from this anymore.

So much for this water bottle's "campus edge," I guess.

2. Once upon a time, this was a TV.

When this furniture store caught on fire, the screen melted right off and now we can see it dangling from the rest of the unit.

3. These shoes weren't made for the Arizona heat.

With temperatures getting well over 110 degrees that day, I'll bet they weren't the only thing that melted.

4. When it gets really hot, sometimes objects can melt into each other.

The chain seemed to take the heat pretty well, but it really did a number on this dumpster.

And when something isn't where it's supposed to be, it can really do some damage.

5. When these power lines came down, they took the road with them.

They really whipped around before all the fuses blew, which caused this funky gash we see now.

6. What is it about melting clocks that we find so endlessly fascinating?

I'm sure it was Salvador Dali who planted the idea in our heads, but I still can't explain it.

7. You can tell it's a hot day when the blinds start drooping.

Apparently, you can fix this by holding them up when they're still soft. Yet if they've already cooled, I hope you like the funky shape because you're stuck with it.

8. It's not too often that it's easier to tell what caused something than what we're actually looking at.

For instance, it's not hard to guess that this melted after a steam pipe burst, but good luck guessing that these used to be fiber cables.

Although it's more obvious what we're looking at in this next one, it's not exactly the first thing we'd think of when the topic of melted stuff comes up.

9. When house siding melts, it looks a little bit like cake.

But unless you like the taste of melted plastic, this is definitely not a gingerbread house.

10. This melting car was on the scene of the ongoingTennessee wildfires.

Despite the tireless efforts of firefighters, over half of the blaze still hasn't been contained. Photos like these give a clear sense of what something like this can do.

11. Strangely enough, it's kind of a mystery as to what's melting this flower pot.

Some in the area think a piece of metal or glass is reflecting sunlight to this specific spot, and that seems plausible enough to me.

12. We've all seen lightbulbs break, but I can't say I've seen one melt.

Apparently, all it takes to cause this is a little finger oil during installation. That's why you're supposed to wear gloves when you install powerful lamps.

This next one can happen easily enough, but it's hard to top it for style.

13. This rainbow mess was once a bag of sour worms.

It's too bad more of the little inconveniences in life can't be this psychedelic.

14. This candle melted in the sun and now looks like a squid trying to escape.

What something melts inside of can be just as important as the melt itself. After all, this would have otherwise just turned into a boring wax puddle.

15. Looks like it's time to get a new outhouse.

Those can take a little getting used to at the best of times, so this one really can't be comfortable.

16. You'd never guess it, but this used to be a plastic plate.

After it found its way into an oven, this is what it turned into.

Don't forget to COMMENT and tell us what unexpected things you've seen take a ride on the melt train.

This "Sweaty" Billboard Attracts Zika Mosquitoes and Finishes Them

This "Sweaty" Billboard Attracts Zika Mosquitoes and Finishes Them

It's already pretty hard to like mosquitoes, but they're more than just a nuisance. They're known to spread some fearsome viruses, which has made them the source of a lot of public health emergencies over the years.

Several years ago, the main threat seemed to center around West Nile virus, but lately, it's their role in spreading the Zika virus that has us all worried. For most people, the effects aren't anything to write home about. But if a pregnant woman gets infected her baby will be at serious risk of developing microcephaly, a severe birth defect that drastically limits a baby's head and brain growth.

This fact alone makes us anxious to find a solution and Posterscope and NBS have teamed up to create a promising one. And you can see it how it works in the full video.

As you can see, it's a billboard. But this one releases carbon dioxide and lactic acid to imitate human breath and sweat. We don't notice mosquitoes until they're right on top of us, but they can sniff us out from up to a mile and a half away. But although the mosquito thinks it's on its way to lapping up our precious blood, it's actually heading right into a trap.

Once they get in, they can't get back out again, keeping us safe from their disease spreading power. As it says on the billboard, it kills hundreds of Zika mosquitoes every day.

So far, two of the billboards have been set up in Rio de Janeiro — a danger zone for the Zika virus — but the inventors have released the blueprints for free and encourage others to make more throughout the world.

While some pest control experts are concerned about putting the Billboards in heavily trafficked areas, they applaud the idea for curbing the mosquito population.

Two Men Try Labor Pain And Regret Everything They've Ever Said About It

Two Men Try Labor Pain And Regret Everything They've Ever Said About It

When it comes to painful experiences, giving birth ranks up there pretty high, if not the highest. Of course, women alone have to endure this agony while men watch from the bedside.

Some men are skeptical about the extent of the pain that women feel when they give birth. When one of these guys comes around, they say that women just exaggerate stuff and that labor pain is just another example of this. Well, it looks like a few of these fellas put their money where their mouths are and strapped on labor pain simulators for the world to see. Oh boy, did they get what was coming to them...

Leave a COMMENT on Facebook letting us know what you think about men trying out a labor simulation.

So two guys made a video talking a lot of smack, saying outright that they think women are exaggerating the pain felt during labor.

They are tired of women thinking that they are weak and say that, "According to women, us men can't handle any of it."

What one of the men say next will likely rile up a lot of the people reading this article.

"Well, did you know that according to men, women exaggerate everything?"

This is when they scheduled an appointment with Dr. Julie Masters to test once and for all whether they can handle the same level of pain a woman feels while she gives birth.

Shortly after meeting the men, Dr. Masters explains that electrodes will be strapped to their abdomens to deliver jolts of pain. This pain is calibrated to reflect levels felt during actual labor.

This guy seems like he might be getting a little scared... Next comes the intense part.

Are you ready for this?

The worry begins to mount on the men's faces as the first currents are about to be administered to their bodies.

Things get even better when the men's wives enter the room with the most satisfied smiles on their faces — and some coffees, of course.

Dr. Masters administered a jolt of electricity.

They are already losing their composure...

Next comes the later stages of labor...

The men totally lost control when "active labor" began.

The agony is readily apparent on one of the men's faces while his wife and Dr. Masters seem entertained, to say the least.

The other man screams in pain while his wife physically supports him through such a big moment!

It seems like the wives can't help themselves as the agony for the two men continue.

While the men are receiving pain comparable to labor for a one-hour period, it doesn't compare to an actual first labor that lasts 16 hours on average. Sorry guys, this was just a sample taste.

You have to see them after the simulation is over...

The men seemed relieved that it's over, to say the least.

When asked how the experience was, one simply said, "That sucked, that was horrible".

This fellow had something he wanted to say to his mom directly after the experience.

"Mom, if anything that I just experienced is anywhere close to what I did to you all those years ago, I'm sorry, you're like a superhero."

Here's the video showing the entire process!

What do you think about men getting a chance to feel labor for themselves? Leave a COMMENT on Facebook with your opinion.

Watch A Man Catch A Razor Clam With Just Salt

Most of the time, we can agree on what people think of as beach activities. Even before you go, you expect to see people swimming, building sand castles, skipping stones and maybe playing volleyball. Other sights, like someone roaming the beach with a metal detector, are a little less common. Still, we've heard of that, so it's not that unusual.

But sometimes, what we think of as "normal" beach behavior depends on the region. You're probably not going to see a lot of lobster traps on the West Coast, but they're all over the place in some Atlantic states.

On the flip side, people out east might not expect to see people pouring salt on the beach. And they definitely wouldn't expect to see what happens next, which you can check out in the full video.

As you watch it, you might wonder what just popped out of the sand. The West Coast is famous for its beaches, but do they really have a bunch of giant yellow worms lurking underneath them?

What you're seeing is actually a razor clam. You can find them on beaches from California to Alaska, and there are more people looking for them than you'd think.

In Washington state alone, about 250,000 people a year flock to the beaches to flush them out. That's because they're considered a really tasty, meaty clam and digging them up is fun for the whole family.

Usually, people use a shovel and a special tube when they think they've found a clam hole, but it looks like YouTube Mark Clark has found an easier way. And if you haven't yet, you can see how he does it in the full video.

COMMENT and let us know how you'd react if you found one of these on your beach!
