He's the godfather of karate. The quickest hands in the East. The man who showed a new generation that action stars can be funny as hell.

Jackie Chan is a cultural icon and has done a lot of cool stuff in his life. So much so that a Diply listicle is in order.

You could skip to the end OR you can punch your way through this article and find out some pretty cool stuff about the man who took on the Triads on-screen AND in real life!

1. His mom sold opium on the side. Lee-Lee's full-time job was a stage performer.

Maybe that's where he got bitten by the acting bug...

2. He reportedly doesn't understand what makes Hollywood tick and didn't like Rush Hour.

In fact, the only reason he did the sequels was because of the dump truck of cash the studio drove up to his house.

3. He has a great set of pipes and has actually dropped 20 albums!

He's been singing the closing credits to all his Chinese movies. When Mulan was released in China he sang "I’ll Make a Man Out of You."

4. He once spent two days trying to push a bone back into his fist... but then he realized it was another guy's tooth that was stuck in there!

Geez, man...

5. He's broken 12 blocks of concrete with his hand while keeping the egg in his hand uncracked....

Chuck Norris, step aside!

6. He doesn't let another company insure his stunt performers. He pays for ALL of it.

AKA if they get injured, he pays for the medical bills.

7. He didn't like it when his co-star during 1984's Wheels On Meals hurt him pretty badly so he challenged him to a kickboxing match.

Benny "The Jet" Urquidez (an actual kickboxing champion) and Lee never fought even though crew members took bets and had money riding on it.

8. Turns out his on-screen persona of sometimes avoiding the Triads gang was based on TRUTH:

During the '80s and '90s he would carry around multiple guns and even a grenade to protect himself...

9. He is a cunning linguist and speaks SEVEN language!

Cantonese, Mandarin, English, German, Korean, Japanese and Thai and also American Sign-Language. So he can be forgiven for slipping up phrases sometimes.

There's apparently some animosity between them...

11. In 2001, he was supposed to star in Nosebleed, which was about a window washer at the World Trade Center who stops a terrorist attack.

Yeah... that was shuttered because of the 9/11 attacks on September 11th, 2001.

12. As a kid he was left in a boarding school where they beat you up if you made a mistake. They taught drama, acrobatics, martial arts and music but no reading or writing.

His parents had to leave him there while they went to find work in Australia.

13. He's broken his nose three times, dislocated both his shoulders, pelvis and sternum and crushed his thighs between two vehicles.

Among other things...

14. He holds the world record for doing the highest number of things for a movie AKA most number of roles for a film: 15...

He was a director, writer, lead actor, executive producer, producer, unit producer, art director, cinematographer, manager, prop man, stunt coordinator, stuntman, gaffer, theme song vocalist, composer and even the film crew's food caterer.

15. He was a horny rickshaw driver in 1975's Hong Kong adult comedy film, All in the Family

"I had to do anything I could to make a living 31 years ago, but I don't think it's a big deal, even Marlon Brando used to be exposed in his movies," Chan said. "The porn movie at that time was more conservative than the current films," he said.
