17 Legendary Things You Totally Missed On 'How I Met Your Mother'

SHARE

How I Met Your Mother was one of my favorite shows EVAHHH.

I mean I love the inside jokes, the characters weird mannerisms, freakin' Barney "Legendary" Stinson. I love it all. However, even diehard fans may have missed a couple things on this show that you should probably be aware of.

Some of these are pretty epic – you have to get on this hype train!

COMMENT and tell us your favorite joke from How I Met Your Mother!

1. Ted Mosby, the helpless romantic of the series has dated 29 different women before he met the mother.

He was quite the lothario, second only to Barney who got well past 60.

2. Neil Patrick Harris, like his character Barney, is a REAL trained magician.

3. Jim Parsons AKA Sheldon from The Big Bang Theoryauditioned for the role of Barney Stinson..

Can you imagine what that would have looked like..??

And remember Robin Sparkles?

4. The "Let's Go To The Mall" song by Robin's alter ego Robin Sparkles is available on the video game Just Dance 3.

So you can rock out with Canadian pop sensation who dressed in '80s gear in the '90s because in Canada the '80s got there late.

5. If a website name got dropped on the show, you can bet that it still exists in real life like www.canadiansexacts.org or www.stinsonbreastreduction.com.

PS www.lilyandmarshallselltheirstuff.com was created for charity and items from the show were auctioned off.

6. The clock in Ted and Marshall's apartment was always set at 4:20.

But the question is was it PM or AM??

7. The phrase "The Bro Code" only started being used in real life after the show started according to Google. PS you can find the whole thing online.

So it turns out that Barney is truly the inventor of "The Bro Code" aka the list of rules a man has got to follow to be considered a bro.

8. Jason Segel didn't know that his character's dad would die until Alyson Hannigan (Lily Aldrin) said the line on camera. They only needed one take.

D'awww...

9. All the reaction shots for Ted's kid's were filmed during the first season to keep them throughout the whole series — this included the final episode which involves the mother.

That means actors Lyndsy Fonseca and David Henrie had to film a bunch of reactions to be used throughout the show and even knew how the show would end.

Turns out that Marshall's greatest accomplishment was actually done by Jason Siegel...

10. Jason Segel, just like his character, won a high school slam dunk contest like LEGIT.

Balling, dude.

11. Lily and Marshall rarely kissed on the show because Jason Segel (Marshall) smoked too much. Alyson Hannigan (Lily) disliked the taste and smell of cigarettes on his breath that she asked not to kiss him on-set.

So they rarely did it.

12. The spouses and significant others of three of the main characters appeared on the show several times.

Alyson Hannigan's husband played Sandy Rivers,Cobie Smulders' husband played Blauman, and finally Neil Patrick Harris' hubby plays Scooter.

13. When everyone is eating Chinese food, Barney is never actually able to eat with chopsticks..

He was successful only one time in Season 7 at the Hibachi Grill Restaurant.

14. The only time that the producers of the show let Alyson Hannigan show her pregnancy on the show was after her character won a hot dog eating contest.

They used her future baby as a way to show how much she'd eaten.

15. The show ISN'T shot in front of a live studio audience because of the quick cut nature of the show.

The producers supposedly finish the episode and show it to an audience and their reactions are what we hear on TV.

And finally, didn't you notice something weird about the numbers that Barney always said?

16. In all of the fake statistics that Barney Stinson would spit out, the numbers 83, 8 or 3 were always involved.

But that's not all, he uses those numbers for a lot of things. They basically those numbers are intertwined in everything in his life.

17. And finally, even though Britney Spears and other celebrities have shown up on the show, it was fashion designer Tim Gunn who the cast swarmed and asked for autographs!

Didn't expect that!
