There are a lot of people out there who are devoted to watching the Victoria's Secret Fashion Showevery year. Some people watch for the entertainment, and others tune in because they love the lingerie fashion. Then there are those who know every model by name and watch solely just to fangirl.
Well, there are going to be some pretty disappointed fangirls this year.
The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is oneof the most well-known fashion shows that occurs each year.
My friends and I would literally make pink baked goods and sit down to watch this show together — it's THAT iconic.
There are some big names that have been walking the show for many years now.
Ladies like Adriana Lima, Lily Aldridge, Candice Swanepoel and Karlie Kloss probably ring a bell, right?
Well, Gigi Hadid has been walking in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show for a few years now, and she's really making a name for herself.
Several months ago, she announced on Instagram how excited she was to be walking in the show yet again this year.
At some point between then and now, something happened, and Gigi had to announce that she would be unable to walk in the show this year, which is taking place in Shanghai, China.
Gigi sent out a tweet explaining that she wouldn't be able to make it to China this year, but would see everyone next year.
She genuinely sounds like she was upset to miss this show, and we can't blame her.
And although it has to be upsetting news to hear, there are a lot of people on Twitter who are less than shocked about the news.
In fact, many speculated that she was banned from entering the country because of an incident last year where she was caught mocking Asian facial features.
The controversial video was taken by Gigi's younger sister, Bella, who will be walking in the show this year.
In the video, Gigi holds up what appears to be a Buddha cookie, and squints her face to to match it.
Even though the incident was a year ago, fans have not forgotten or forgiven Gigi for it.
"You are not welcomed to China. Your apology on weibo was insincere," tweeted one user.
Although Gigi apologized for the video, many knew that as soon as she announced she intended to walk in the 2017 show, there would be an issue.
It's not uncommon for the Chinese government to deny work Visa's to celebrities, and Gigi is definitely not the first this has happened to.
In fact, Taylor Swift was originally scheduled to perform at the fashion show, but cancelled last minute.
Katy Perry was then asked to preform, and people were expecting that she would be there.
But now it's being reported by several news outlets that Katy was unable to obtain her work Visa at the last minute.
Anyone who has been through the process knows what a headache it can be!
Do you think people are blowing this ban out of proportion, or are they pretty spot-on with their accusations?
