I say guilty pleasure because I'm not the first person to admit that the overt violence and motorcycle setting isn't my forté. And it was hard to defend the violence to my friends. I was constantly telling them it was a like an EPIC novel.
But episode after episode, SAMCRO drew me in each time. So what happens now that the show is over?
First off, the creator of the show Kurt Sutter said he'd be interested in doing a prequel looking at how SAMCRO became what it did before Jax was the center of it.
But then steam started picking up that Sutter wanted to do a spin-off instead that'd cover the Sons Of Anarchy chief rival, the Mayans Motorcycle Club.
First off, Mayans MC (the title of the spin-off) will take place after the events of the Sons Of Anarchy finale at the California and Mexican border.
In other words, it WON'T take place in California.
We'll see the show from the perspective of EZ Reyes, a potential member in the Mayans MC charter. The character will be seeking vengeance against a local cartel.
And then he'll also be dealing with “his need for the women in his life to respect him.”
But that's not all...
Shooting for the pilot takes place in March 2017 and the Sons of Anarchy co-creator wrote it with executive producer Elgin James because Sutter didn't want “to just throw some white guy at it.”
P.S. James spent more than 15 years in a gang where he robbed neo-Nazi skinheads and drug dealers and gave the money to charities. In 2008, he had to serve a prison sentence for a gang-related charge of federal extortion. A year later, he made his directorial debut.
COMMENT and tell us what you hope to see in the Sons Of Anarchy spin-off!
