What do you think of Lilli's story? COMMENTand let us know!
Lilli Sim was born with a rare condition known as craniofrontonasal dysplasia (CFND).
As a result of her condition, Lilli was expected to only live for a few months because doctors believed she had Cohen's syndrome, though they later discovered it was CFND.
As a result, she spent time in and out of the hospital, receiving her first surgery at six months.
She went under the knife again after she turned four.
Making friends for Lilli was difficult, so she often spent time alone at school while being the subject of bullying from other students.
Her grandfather would go to her school and sit with her at lunch so she wasn't alone.
When she got to high school, people became more accepting of her and wouldn't treat her differently than they would others.
While her family made a big deal about this, apparently she said, "I copped a lot of staring and I still do, but it doesn’t really phase me."
She has received facial reconstruction procedures throughout her entire life.
She even had her jaw broken and moved.
Lilli and her brother formed a tight bond, enjoying various sports.
After all of her surgeries, Lilli's finally achieving the look that she wants.
Given her struggles, her dream is to become a social worker and to help others.
Lilli's story is an amazing one and goes to show how powerful facial reconstruction surgery can be. Hopefully this serves as a source of inspiration for others.
