Woman Gets Botched Nose Job Restored After 21 Years

We've all seen the impressive work tattoo artists can do. It's not just that a skilled one can create body art, they can also cover up a lesser inker's scratchings with something their customer would be proud to wear.

Yet, even with the worst tattoo, you're only out a few hundred dollars and some embarrassment that you can cover up if you got it in a hideable place. However, your options are much more limited if you've had a run-in with a bad plastic surgeon. Depending on the procedure, it could potentially cost thousands of dollars — and there's a good chance the results will be highly visible.

The humiliation isn't even the worst problem — botched procedures can lead to chronic pain, infections, and other serious effects on your health. Fortunately, there are doctors who specialize in repairing the damage done by their less ethical colleagues.

Two of these cosmetic rescuers, Terry Dubrow and Paul Nassif, have a reality show called Botched where they present the stories of their unfortunate patients. Today, we'll be looking at the case of Dana, who underwent her first procedure for a very sad reason.

COMMENT and tell us something incredible a doctor did for you.

Dana was born in Texas to the owners of an oil company.

Her father had problems with drugs and alcohol and Dana believes he was preoccupied with having a "perfect" family.

This is likely why her mother pressured her into getting plastic surgery at 16.

Specifically, her mother wanted her to get her nose done. Neither of the Botched doctors could see anything wrong with her original nose but it didn't seem to be "perfect" enough for her parents.

Sadly, the results were anything but perfect.

When the procedure was done, her new nose suddenly pointed way off to the right. The surgeon was dismissive about his mistake and simply said that it would heal in time.

Of course, that's not what happened.

Dana was left with a series of sinus infections and a nose that was stuck in an unwanted position.

She resolved to do something about it, but sadly, things didn't go according to plan.

It would be 21 years before Dana had the chance to see another surgeon.

Her parents apparently lost everything soon after the first procedure and there was no money for another one.

Finally, opportunity knocked when she appeared on Botched.

Nassif discovered that the previous surgeon had left a spur made of bone lodged in Dana's airway, which was causing her shape and sinus problems.

Nassif said the procedure turned out more complex than he expected.

However, he said he succeeded in getting her nose "95 percent straighter." So, what does 95 percent look like?

To Dana, the results were like getting her original nose back.

When she saw her family after the surgery, she said, "I feel like a new chapter of my life is beginning."
