Varsity Blues' Star Speaks Out After He Loses 500 Pounds

It's not always glamorous to be an actor in Hollywood. Even when you're in successful movies and work hard to end up with the "ideal" body, that doesn't mean you've made it. Ron Lester knows this. He lost 500 pounds and had an interesting outlook on his weight loss journey.

Ron Lester. Remember him? He's an actor who was pretty famous in the late '90s and early 2000s. 

Trying to figure out where you know him from? Lester's been in successful movies like Varsity Blues and Not Another Teen Movie.

He was also in the Ryan Murphy TV show Popular

Lester was often cast as the comic relief in movies and TV shows but he wasn't satisfied with that. He wanted to make a change in his life.

He changed his lifestyle and appearance. Where did that leave him? You won't believe what he says about his weight loss!

Weighing over 500 pounds, Lester decided to take matters into his own hands and underwent gastric bypass surgery. He lost over 350 pounds! 

The surgery took a huge toll on his health. He flatlined during gastric bypass surgery.

His weight loss journey didn't just end there. He also went under the knife 18 times to remove excess skin.

After he got the body he wanted, he instantly regretted it. He said that he was alive but he wasn't happy. 

But why? And what's next for him?

He credits the weight loss for his lack of roles in movies. He has said multiple times that if he could go back in time, he wouldn't go through with the surgeries.

So what's he up to now? Lester just wrote and starred in a movie called Racing Legacy.

He's also doing lots of auditions. He's said that he is happy working as an actor but wants to also explore screenwriting and directing.
