Barbie Ferrieira Takes Fashion Industry By Storm As Plus-Sized Model

Women are constantly under pressure to conform to a bizzarre "standard of beauty." Despite the fact that beauty comes in many shapes and sizes, the media, particularly the fashion industry, portrays it as being outrageously skinny. Without a doubt, this brings a great many problems for society, especially since it causes eating disorders left and right. This lack of inclusiveness is responsible for the damage caused. One company, however, decided to go against the grain and do something awesome, and that company was Aerie. Their latest campaign is known as #AerieReal, and it's about real beauty, not the falsified standard created by the industry. Their latest ad features Barbie Ferrieira, and she shows the world what body positivity is all about.

Barbie Ferreira is blowing up and taking the internet by storm because she shows what it means to love yourself.

Barbie, the New York-based model, spends her time booking gigs with the top fashion magazines and just completely rocks the industry. With all of the appallingly thin models present in today's fashion, it's nice to see someone who is truly comfortable in their skin promoting self-love and showing that beauty doesn't only come in one shape or size.

Barbie constantly receives critics because she isn't what the typical model looks like, but despite this, she still shows that self-love is #1. In an interview with The Wild, she joked by saying "You think I'm fat? I'm still rocking it." A strong message in itself and it shows how strong she is.

Barbie's attitude is easy to love, so if anyone in the industry denies her, it'll definitely say a lot about them and their brand. She knows what she wants and she keeps it authentic, which makes it the perfect face for Aerie's #AerieReal campaign. The below video is a commercial called "Real Talk With Barbie," which portrays Barbie as a model who is unapologetic for being who she is.
