Fitness Model Destroys Unrealistic Expectations With Revealing Pic Of Her Holiday Belly

SHARE
By now, most of us know not to believe everything we see on social media. People generally aren't going to put their whole lives out there – they'll either put their best sides up, or their most dramatic. Either way, it's all about getting attention, right? But people will either use that attention for their own egos or to actually try to do some good. Yet one popular Instagram star decided to not put her best side out there, and it just might do some good.

Australian fitness model Emily Skye might not have a bad angle in her Instagram photos, but she wants her followers to know she's far from perfect – and that's okay.

Her photos almost always seem flawless, and she clearly spends a lot of time in the gym, but she also knows the dangers of tying your self-worth too closely your appearance.

In her post, she shares that "sometimes I look like the pic on the left, sometimes times I look like the pic on the right. – I don't always have abs or look lean and I'm never 'perfect'."

Although she's a popular fitness model, she understands the daily frustrations many women feel. "I was once sitting at a fitness shoot and was told by someone (while pointing at my belly) "Fitness models don't have belly rolls when they sit" – I was so upset about this & felt so inadequate... Nowadays I know better. My priority is how I feel mentally and physically!"

Emily hasn't been shy about showing off her less-than-perfect side in the past, either.

"Perfection doesn't exist, which is easy to forget... So here's a reminder from me that I bloat.. I also have stretch marks, cellulite and pimples (as you may have seen in previous posts). I'm nowhere near perfect.. and that's fine by me!"

While her stunning fitness photos might have attracted legions of followers, her more candid moments have gotten a huge response, too. The side-by-side post showing off her belly rolls has received more than 70,000 likes.

And the comments show how much her followers appreciate the way she destroyed unrealistic expectations.

"A lot of what we see in these images is not "healthy" or "realistic" and comparing ourselves will never do us any good," she concluded. "Focus on your health – mental and physical and focus on being YOUR best."
