I didn't even know Green Arrow was a legit superhero until I saw Arrowrandomly on a CW promo.
But then I checked the show out. And GOT HOOKED.As most people do – and suddenly I'm making sure my kids have bow and arrows and make all the other kids jealous.
Arrow, love you, man! Plus here are some facts about the show you should know...
1. He actually doesn't even go by his real alter ego, "Green Arrow" until Season 4.
2. Felicity Smoak (played by Emily Bett Rickards) was only supposed to appear in just one episode – HOWEVER, people loved her so much the showrunners made her a main character.
GOOD FOR HER!
3. The exterior shot of the police department is actually the Los Angeles Public Library.
LEARNING.
4. Steven Amell's Arrow is IN the DC extended universe even if he might not end up in the Justice League movie.
Promotional material for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice showed that Oliver Queen does live in this universe.
5. This is the second time that Brandon Routh has played a superhero.
Before he was The Atom he was Superman in 2005's Superman Returns.
6. The show mentions Coast City quite a bit... if it sounds familiar it's because that's the city where Green Lantern lives!
That city is stomping grounds of Hal Jordan, the Silver Age Green Lantern.
CROSSOVER?
7. Sin calls Roy Harper "Abercrombie" because the actor used to be a fancy pants model.
It's a bit of an inside joke since Colton Haynes who plays Roy was a model for Abercrombie and Fitch before he got into acting.
8. This is the first time that League of Assassins have actually been called that on screen.
Even in Batman Begins, the writers decided to call it the League of Shadows. Whatever that means.
9. The first four seasons of Arrowbegin with Oliver Queen running through a forest of some kind...
In the first two seasons, Oliver is running through the Lian Yu forests, in Season 3 there are a bunch of trees and bushes along the train route and in Season 4 he's jogging in a park.
10. The show was originally intended to be a gritty realistic take with no meta-humans exactly like The Dark Knight trilogy that Christopher Nolan started.
But that was all changed with the introduction of The Flash in 2014.
I mean, how couldn't you include him?
11. The show KNOWS that women are tuning in to see Stephen Amell's abs. In fact they have a name for scenes that show his chest.
The pilot had a workout scene that went viral and it was so popular that producers made sure that there was a shirtless scene in nearly every episode of the first season. They called those scenes "absposition" since they often show his abs during exposition scenes.
12. Oliver has that weird twitch because actor Stephen Amell says that it's a sort of anxiousness that comes from the character wishing he had a bow in his hands.
EITHER WAY, if you haven't seen this show yet... DO IT.
