Man Becomes Bodybuilding Champion After Losing Half His Body Weight

SHARE
Randy Meilbeck is a 24-year-old man who has struggled with his weight for almost his entire life.

At his heaviest, he weighed in at 350 pounds.

His life revolved around food and alcohol.

Now? He's a fitness champion, fitness trainer, and true inspiration. This is his story.

This is 24-year-old Randy Meilbeck — although you wouldn't know it by looking at him today.

This is him at his heaviest: 350 pounds.

He use to gorge himself for nearly three hours a day on 3,000 calories worth of fried chicken and potato skins. After, he'd chase it all down with alcohol.

He didn't exercise.

He was bullied — a lot. He was called "fat blob" and "manboobs." The words hurt, but not nearly as much as what his doctor had to say.

Randy was in trouble. He had seriously high blood pressure and diabetes.

Meilbeck says, "After I was told about my high blood pressure and diabetes I knew I had to lose weight, then losing all that weight allowed me to follow my lifelong dream of becoming a body builder."

Isn't it funny how things seem to fall into place when we take a shot on ourselves?

Exercise and diet: these are the things we know make a huge difference, but the biggest change he made?

Putting his health first and foremost. He ditched the TV binge-watching and started with motivational videos. He persisted. This is the result:

After three dedicated years, he's gone from a 56-inch waist and 3XL top to a 32-inch waist and small tops. He's lost over half his body weight. He's achieved his dream of being a fitness trainer and competitor. He's even won some trophies!

Most important: he's never felt better about himself.

He describes his transformation like this: "It's very surreal getting so much attention as I still have 'ugly duckling syndrome' because I never would have thought people would find me attractive - so now it's amazing."

Meilbeck took the doctors seriously. He listened. And then? He did something to change his fate — and became a weight lifting champion in the process.
