19 Things We Have Been Doing Wrong All Along

SHARE
Not everything is as obvious as it seems. In fact, it's surprising how much hides in plain sight and how many things we take for granted, all without ever suspecting that we could be doing things differently.

Fortunately, life gets better when you realize you how much more efficiently you could be doing everyday tasks.

1. The fastest way to chill your drinks: wrap them in a wet paper towel before putting them in the freezer.

The paper towel will get cold first, helping to chill your drink faster.

2. Your mirrors can actually double as dry-erase boards.

Note: if you accidentally use a Sharpie, try nail polish remover to wipe it off.

Never spend money on a dry-erase board again!

3. Open a keyring with a staple remover.

Do your manicure a favor by using a staple remover to pry a keyring open instead.

Your nails and your manicurist will thank you.

4. Save room in your cupboards by hanging your spray bottles from a tension rod.

Once your cleaning products start to pile up, you can make extra room by adding a tension rod.

5. Load cans into your fridge quickly by opening both ends of the box, putting it all on the shelf, and pulling the box away.

Seriously, I'm never putting in one can at a time again.

6. Ever wonder what that little slot on your keychain bottle opener is for? Voila!

This is new information for most people.

Turns out, that little gadget is a bottle and can opener.

7. Most companies put tabs on the end of their foil or cling wrap roll containers — punch them in to keep the rolls from popping out.

So that'swhy my foil roll is always popping out!

8. Keep mess off your counter using the hole in your pot's handle to hold your spoon.

The person who invented spoon holders totally banked on the fact that you didn't know this.

9. And when it's time to heat your leftovers, make a hole in the middle so it heats more evenly.

You can avoid cold spots by just creating a center hole.

10. If you're reheating something that will dry out in the microwave, put a small glass of water in there with it.

Want your re-heated pizza to taste less reheated? Try this trick!

11. Flip the little plastic seat thing up to keep your groceries in the cart.

Seems obvious, but hey, we're not all that swift.

Anyway, it's the little things that count, amirite?

12. Stop jamming your hand into the Pringles can – slide some paper in and create a chute to make your chips accessible.

Unless of course you enjoy getting your hand all greasy.

13. Slice bread upside down so you don't crush the top.

Just, you know, don't push too hard down on the loaf and end up crushing it anyway.

This one takes a bit of finesse.

14. Flatten ground meat before you freeze it so will thaw faster.

Flat packages thaw much quicker than big mounds of ground beef.

Your future-self will definitely thank you for this one.

15. Tear sticky notes off side-to-side rather than bottom-to-top to stop the paper from curling.

Admit it, that little curl in the paper is a little annoying.

Try this method and make fewer things annoying at the office.

16. Chips come in a bowl you don't have to wash if you fold in the top and push up the bottom.

This take a bit of skill, but once you master it, it's basically a party trick.

17. Keep linen sets together and organized by putting the sheets in the matching pillow case.

Never ruin your entire closet by looking for one sheet ever again.

You'll thank yourself later.

18. Chinese food takeout containers can transform into plates.

Rather eat your chow mein off a plate than a bowl? No problem, just carefully unfold your takeout container and enjoy the extra square footage.

19. You've been removing staples wrong.

Flip your page around and remove the back endof the staple. That way, removing it won't tear your papers and make them look like a hot mess.

20. Fast food ketchup containers are expandable.

Tired of filling up two or even three paper containers and looking like you have ketchup problem?

Just carefully stretch out one and fit three times the amount of ketchup!

21. Bobby pins should be placed downwards, ladies.

Bobby pins hold twice as well when you slide them in with the small end pointing downwards.

Plus, they end up looking more stealth that way.

22. Fold your coffee lid's tab inwards to reduce spilling.

By folding the tab inwards, upcoming coffee will just slide back down the tab.

Coffee is precious — you shouldn't risk spilling it!

23. Balance your taco shells with a fork while you're loading them up.

Tacos are messy, but they don't have to be that messy.

Keep more of the toppings in the taco this way.

Now you can share all this knowledge with your friends.

And you can even pretend like you didn't just learn it three minutes ago. Don't worry, we won't tell anyone.
