15 Holiday DIYs For The Festive Minimalist

SHARE
The holidays can be a very overwhelming time of year for some people. And while it's easy to say you're going to throw an old-fashioned family Christmas complete with a perfectly decorated home, a flawless turkey dinner, and the prettiest gift wrap anyone's ever seen, actually making that happen is usually next to impossible.

If you want to tone down the workload you normally take on during the holiday season, but don't want to sacrifice the festive beauty you love so much about it, why not give a minimalist Christmas a try? The ideas below are all you need to pull it off!

1. DIY Natural Season Wreath

Wreaths are a festive staple, and in my opinion, every front door should have one. Even if you're not a fan of traditional, premade wreaths, you have to admit this natural one is stunning.

2. DIY Christmas Scroll

One of the easiest ways to bring comfort and joy into your home during the holidays is with simple artwork, like the piece this blogger created on a scroll of craft paper!

3. Felt Holly Garland

Holly has to be one of the prettiest Christmas decorations, don't you think? Its green leaves are simple and timeless, and the red berries provide the perfect splash of festive color.

4. DIY Star Message Board

The best part about this project is that it's an idea that can be applied to any shape you want, so depending on which one you pick, it can be something you use all year long.

5. Evergreen Stars

You can't have Christmas without evergreens! And if you really want to make this seasonal accent the focal point of your decor, these outdoor stars are the way to go.

6. DIY Minimalist Gift Wrapping

Sure, buying a few rolls of wrapping paper from the dollar store is easy enough, but I bet friends and family will appreciate this one-of-a-kind alternative much more.

7. Swedish Candle Wreath

Just imagine how pretty the front of your home would look with a few of these hanging in the windows? I guarantee your neighbors will notice and want to know where you got them.

8. DIY Geometric Ornaments

Seriously, making homemade decorations doesn't get easier than this. And even though they don't look like much, these geometric ornaments are absolutely lovely when hung on a tree.

9. DIY Branch Stocking Display

A lot of us aren't able to hang our stockings from the chimney with care, but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy a fun and beautiful alternative.

10. Simple Paper Bag Gift Wrap

Receiving a wrapped gift topped with a big, beautiful bow may be exciting, but honestly, I prefer the simpler look that this paper bag idea delivers.

11. DIY Mini Wood Christmas Trees

If you don't have room for an actual Christmas tree in your house — or you just can't be bothered with putting one up this year — these wooden versions are just what you need.

12. DIY Merry Pine Garland

I have an oversized chalkboard in my kitchen and this pine garland would look amazing over top of it! I can definitely see myself giving this idea a try.

13. Festive Mini Banners

These pretty banners would look great hanging from a tree or could even be used as gift tags. Simply grab the necessary materials and then put your fancy pants writing skills to work!

14. Festive Candle Holder

If you have a taper candle, a glass bottle, and access to some evergreen branches, then you can make this simple DIY happen. And if you create a bunch of them, they'll look awesome all lined up on your holiday dinner table.

15. DIY Mid Century Candlestick Holders

Isn't this table display gorgeous? And you can recreate for yourself without breaking the bank! Pretty awesome, right? All you'll need is some Plaster of Paris, a few plastic cups, PVC caps, and a super strong adhesive.
