Do you know exactly what Google can track?
People online are freaking out a little bit about some news. Google can track exactly where you've been. Every step. That stop you made to the bookstore after the market? Google knows.
SHARE this article with your Facebook friends. They probably had no idea.
We are still getting used to our smartphones.
If your experience was anything like mine the first time I tried to follow directions with Google Maps, you know that it's hard to get used to.
Google Maps has revolutionized how we locate anything and everything in this world.
Do you ever feel like you're being watched, though?
It turns out that you are.
A timeline function in Google Maps has all the information about where you've been, and you can see it for yourself.
Here, you need to see for yourself...
If you go here, you can see how much Google Maps has tracked you.
First, just make sure you are signed into the Google account you are on the most. Hold on to your seat because the screen will literally fill up with your past locations.
How does this make you feel?
This also means that if you have your account automatically signed in, anyone looking at your phone can also find out where you've been...
So how can I turn it off?
This tracking will only occur if you have Location Services turned on. This is basically a signal to your phone that you want your location tracked by GPS. This option is pretty simple to find on most iPhone and Android phones.
You can also delete the location history by going back to the original Google Maps Timeline service by clicking on the calendar.
But, hey, if you don't mind having your location tracked, leave it on! People have actually drawn out hilarious stuff with it. :)
