Everybody likes to enjoy a warm day while they soak up the sun. Some people may not to get to enjoy the convenience of a lawn, or get to lay down on a soft, comfy bed of grass whenever they want. Well, Jason Hodges from Better Homes and Gardens came up with a creation that will let you enjoy that from the comfort of your own backyard, no matter the material! He turns a plain, concrete courtyard into a comfy day bed with grass which would be perfect for a nice nap or even a picnic in the backyard.
Jason starts off by building the base of the bed with some wood planks. He couldn't just leave it as a square because it would look like a garden, so he creates a gorgeous headboard to dress it up. Next, he adds the top frame which is meant to hold the soil and grass. At this point, the wood is looking a bit plain, but Jason has a solution! He adds some charcoal stain to the wood to give it a beautiful finish. Next comes the soil, as well as some fertilizer and water crystals (to keep the grass healthy). Finally, Jason rolls out some grass on top of the soil. He uses soft leaf buffalo, which has a nice soft (doesn't poke) grass that's really easy to care for. At this point you must be thinking, "Jeez, this sounds like it would take a lot of maintenance." Well, according to Jason, it only really requires a quick shearing every now and then, as well as watering the grass once a week. Sometimes it's not always about the looks, especially when it comes to a bed. Jason reassures us by saying, "It’s fine that it looks good, but the most important thing is how does it feel?” Jason says. “I’m pleased to report it’s a 10 out of 10.” Watch the video below to see Jason make this awesome day bed!
