12 Nail Art Designs Made With A Marker

SHARE
I won't try to hide the fact that I'm nail-obsessed. It probably wouldn't even surprise me if I discovered I was solely responsible for keeping Essie afloat. And as much as I love a good, clean, solid shade on my claws, there are times when I feel the need to shake things up a bit. What's the best way to do this, might you ask? By using markers as tools for creating cute and unique nail designs! These looks appear to be the work of a professional, but they're actually quite user-friendly. If you choose Sharpies as your weapon of choice, apply a clear base coat beforehand to avoid staining. So if you're looking to spice up your nail portfolio, read ahead for tips on how to create easy and interesting designs using markers!

1. Metallic Tips

This fall, it's all about metallics. Put a new spin on a French manicure by lining your tips with a bold, metallic Sharpie.

2. Loopy Script

The word possibilities are endless. Such a cute, girly look!

3. B&W Minimalism

This design is so simple, yet so trendy. Although this image shows striping tape being used, the same look can be achieved by using a fine-tipped Sharpie.

4. Rainbow Sparkles

To copy this look, simply draw on sections of different-colored Sharpies and finish off with a glittery top coat!

5. Polka Dots

Achieve this look by dotting your nails with thick or fine-tipped Sharpies. Metallic colors look especially awesome!

6. Girly Hearts

This look is so sweet and amazingly simple! Get this look by pairing your favorite base coat with hearts drawn in your Sharpie of choice.

7. Dainty Birds

I adore this whimsical nail design. Using a black Sharpie on a light base color ensures your birds will stand out.

8. Marbled Flowers

You don't have to be an artist to achieve this look. All it takes is a white base polish and some bright highlighter designs!

9. Negative Space

This is one of the biggest nail trends gracing the fall fashion scene. Achieve this easy look by applying blocks of black Sharpie to the tops and bottoms of your nails and leaving the middle section untouched.

10. Splatter

Get this look by pairing your favorite base polish with some Sharpie splatters! It's best to apply scotch tape around nail beds to keep the paint on the canvas.

11. Monarch-Inspired

Who doesn't love the intricate designs of a monarch butterfly's wings? All it takes to get this look is an orange base coat and a black fine-tipped Sharpie. Don't have a steady enough hand for the white polish dots? Try using a white Sharpie paint marker instead.

12. Mad For Plaid

The color and design possibilities are endless with this look. Simply choose your base color and create your favorite plaid designs using black and tan Sharpies!
